The Round table to discuss the assistance to the Semipalatinsk region and priorities for 2010-2015

 17 August 2010, Astana – The Round table to discuss the assistance to the Semipalatinsk region and priorities for 2010-2015 carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly with the United Nations in Kazakhstan take place in Astana.

The round table is organized ahead of the international conference dedicated to the first anniversary of acceptance by the United Nations General Assembly of the resolution establishing the 29 August as International Day Against Nuclear Tests which to pass on 26 August 2010.

The session of the round table has been devoted to discussion of the assistance of national and international rehabilitation programs in Semipalatinsk region to reveal priorities and develop future work in the region. The round table participants focused on three basic directions: medical and social rehabilitation, economic development and radio ecology.

Representatives of state and local bodies (East Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, and Karaganda oblasts), civil society, international organizations and representatives of diplomatic corps took part in the session.
