Oralmans of East Kazakhstan renovate the school’s sport facilities
A Volunteer Campaign organized by the oralman-activists together with the UNDP/UNV project “Promoting Social and Economic Intergration of Oralman” to renovate and repaire the school’s sport facilities has taken place in Molodejnoe village, Ulan region, East Kazakhstan Oblast.
“This Campaign is conducted in order that our children have good conditions for their study, leisure time and physical development”, – said Mr. Atan Nurbakyt, National UN Volunteer in Ulan region. – “We do not need any glory and money. We do it for nothing and we are very glad that UNDP/UNV helps us in this. This is because we work for our children.”
"All should be interested in fast integration of oralman into Kazakhstan society”, - said Mr. Duman Zhampeissov, UNPD/UNV Project Manager. – “The people can benefit the government and their wish to do it is pleased. I am sure that the joint work will rally the local community and the repatriates.”
Since independence, Kazakhstan acclaimed a policy of the ethnic Kazakhs return to their homeland. Oralmans are ethnic Kazakhs, who lived in neighboring with Kazakhstan countries (China, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Russia, Kyrgystan, Iran, Afganistan, Pakistan) and returned to Kazakhstan. For the previous period the total number of oralmans who returned to Kazakhstan was about 750 000 people. In 2009 the program “Nurly Kosh” with the aim of rational resettlement and assistance in arrangements for ethnic immigrants as well as for former citizens of Kazakhstan who returned to their homeland started.
