Volunteers in East Kazakhstan arrange bus stops in Ziasan
On 1 July 2010 in Zaisan town, East-Kazakhstan oblast the Volunteer Campaign on installement of bus stops in the most crowded areas of the town was organized by the oralman-activists together with the UNDP/UNV.
Zaisan became home for many oralmans (repatrieates). The bus stops are installed near the municipal hospital and the bus station.
“The hospital is one of the busiest places of ourtown and bus stops are just necessary here. The campaign is conducted for citizens could have an opportunity to wait for a bus in good conditions. The bus stops can protect the people from the sun in summer and rain and the snow in cold time,”-says Kairanbay Damukhan, orlaman-activist. “We do not need any glory, gratitute and money. We do it for nothing and we are very glad that UNDP/UNV helps us in this. This is because we work for general weal and we will be glad for any help.”
“All should be interested in fast integration of oralman into Kazakh society”, - says Duman Zhampeissov, UNPD/UNV Project Manager. – “The people can benefit the government and their wish to do it is pleased. I am sure that the joint work will rally the local community and the repatriates.”
The Campaigns are conducted in the framework of UNDP/UNV project “Promoting Social and Economic Integration of Oralman”.
