Travel

The travel services provided include support with obtaining visa, hotel reservations, and ticket booking and issuance. Important information on registration within the country should be noted. The focal point for travel services in the UNDP office is the Travel Clerk, Ms. Sholpan Zhandayeva (sholpan.jandayeva@undp.org).

Visa Support

Due to changes in the national procedures for obtaining visas, Visa Requests should be submitted at least two weeks in advance of the day of travel, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Kazakhstan needs a full week to issue the visa and experience shows that some other unexpected delays may occur.

The following documents/information is required to obtain a visa:
1. Surname, name
2. Gender
3. Date and place of birth
4. Nationality
5. Passport ¹: (has to be valid for more than 6 month after visa expiration date)
6. Date issued
7. Date of expiry
8. Occupation
9. Permanent Address
10. Planned dates of entry and departure
11. Country/city where visa is to be issued: (please note that if the visa is to be issued at the airport on arrival, it would be valid only for 1 entry and a maximum duration of one month)
12. Purpose of visit
13. Mode of travel (air, road, etc.)
14. Copy of Passport

Booking and Issuance of Tickets for Overseas Travel

The Agency Service Request for ticket issuance should be submitted at least 10 working days before travel as the payment process takes at least 5 working days, and include the name of the traveler, exact itinerary and travel dates. The Travel Clerk should be notified about any changes that may occur as soon as possible, preferably at least 5 working days before travel.

Hotel reservation

The requests for hotel reservations should be submitted to UNDP Travel Clerk at least 10 working days in advance, including exact arrival and departure times. The hotels have a policy on cancellation, and if the reservations are not cancelled 48 hours in advance, the requesting agency may be asked to cover the hotel cost for one night.

Registration with local police after arrival

For diplomatic passport and UN LP holders there is no need for registration with law-enforcement bodies at the place of arrival. When using national passports and for the period of stay longer than 5 days, registration is needed and can be done either by the hotel or by MFA. The registration process may take one or two days, so the passport has to be given for registration immediately after arrival.
